A high resolution spotlight SAR image formation algorithm free of any approximations is proposed to overcome the problems of geometric distortion and limited scene size resulting from RVP which is a direct consequence of the signal dechirp-on-receive approach for spotlight data collection, and from neglecting range curvature in PFA processing commonly adopted in spotlight SAR system. This algorithm is suitable for high accuracy and large scene size spotlight SAR processing.
