An octave-bandwidth orthomode transducer based on quad-ridged rectangular waveguide geometry is described. The structure and working principle of the orthomode transducer are introduced. The S-band version orthomode transducer has been designed and simulated with ansoft's HFSS, the design is manufactured and then tested. Measurements show that, the measured results agree well with the simulation predictions over a 2:1 bandwidth ratio.
